CFMoto is gearing up to enter the electric motorcycle space, and fresh patents reveal its most ambitious project yet — a fully faired electric sports bike with a radical new design.

Unlike conventional electric bikes that either mimic petrol-powered frames or use the battery as a stressed member, CFMoto’s design takes a different route. The patent images show a unique frame built around two large aluminium side plates. These plates not only house the battery but also serve as mounting points for the headstock, motor, swingarm, and even the sub-frame. This layout simplifies maintenance and could allow quicker battery swaps.

Another key highlight is the cooling efficiency. By encasing the battery and electronics within heat-dissipating plates, the bike can better manage thermal loads, improving sustained performance. Battery overheating has long been a challenge for electric sports machines, making this design particularly noteworthy.

CFMoto has also experimented with motor placement. Instead of the usual positioning ahead of or within the swingarm pivot, the motor here is mounted behind it, integrated neatly into the swingarm. This frees up more space for a larger battery pack, which could translate to extended riding range and faster charging capabilities. The additional room may also allow engineers to integrate essential systems more seamlessly without bulky external components.

While details on specifications and timelines remain under wraps, this patent hints at CFMoto’s serious intent to push boundaries in electric mobility. If executed well, the brand’s innovative approach could address long-standing hurdles like battery cooling, range limitations, and charging speed — making electric sport bikes a lot more practical.
