We have said this numerous times and we’re going to say it again, ‘Dakar is one of the most dangerous, demanding, and arduous rallies of all times’. With the kind of beating it gives to its people, it seems they are from some other world. The 2019 edition ended last month and teams have already started preparing for the next one. However, there is a big probability that the next season would relocate to a new continent.
That’s right. There are some rumors on the Internet stating that Dakar is going to change its location and move out from South America. And the best part is that Saudi Arabia might host the next season!

Saudi Arabia is a strong option for the Dakar organizers as the new location. There are some social media posts made by local Saudi drivers that state the confirmation of Saudi Arabia as the host for not only Dakar 2020 but also until 2024.
Of course, these are just rumors as of now. But these are those kinds of rumors which we wish become true.
Previously, the rumors were about Angola. There has been a map shared by Angola’s Motorsports Federation with the caption “Good route for a Dakar rally”. It was posted on a Portuguese motorsports website. It’s being said that the Angolan Federation were in talks with Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) about a possible return of Dakar to Africa.
As of now, we can only hope and pray that the Dakar comes to the Middle East. We will be on top of this big news and will be bringing you the latest updates, so stay tuned. The final decision about the new location would be finalized by June 2019.
