CFMoto 550CL-C

CFMoto is gearing up to turn up the heat in the cruiser segment, as the upcoming 550CL-C has surfaced in Chinese approval documents, revealing a bigger engine and a noticeable performance boost.

At the heart of the update is a reworked parallel-twin engine, now bumped up to 526cc from the 449cc unit in the CFMoto 450CL-C. Thanks to revised internals and a longer stroke, power jumps significantly to 52.3 hp – up nearly 30 percent. While torque figures aren’t officially out yet, expect a stronger low-end punch, making this cruiser more relaxed and responsive for daily riding.

The updates go beyond just the engine. The 550CL-C gets a longer aluminium swingarm, stretching the wheelbase for improved stability, while most core hardware – like the trellis frame and suspension – appears to be carried over unchanged.

Styling tweaks add to its road presence. A redesigned headlamp, updated tank with knee grips, new seat, and a sleeker rear section give the bike a lower, more stretched-out cruiser stance. Wider handlebars and revised footpeg mounts also promise a more commanding riding position.

Performance figures see a bump too, with the top speed climbing to over 100 mph or 160 kph. However, this comes with a slight weight increase, now tipping the scales at around 430 pounds or 190 kg.

Like before, the bike retains the belt drive and a conventional gearbox, though a semi-automatic variant could follow. Positioned against rivals like the Honda Rebel 500 and Kawasaki Eliminator, the new 550CL-C looks set to deliver more performance without losing its value edge.
