Metzeler is pushing tyre tech in an exciting new direction with its adaptive DynaTread system, designed to quite literally change how your rubber meets the road when the pace picks up.
First seen on the Roadtec 02 back in 2024, the patented tech has now made its way to the sportier Sportec 01 and the more track-focused Sportec 01 RS. The idea is clever: under aggressive riding, the tread pattern tightens up, reducing the gaps between grooves and effectively increasing the contact patch for more grip.

At everyday speeds, the grooves stay open. That means proper water evacuation in the wet and faster warm-up – two things you don’t want to compromise on the road. But start pushing harder, and the tyre adapts.
The numbers back it up, too. On the Sportec 01 RS, the void ratio drops from 4.6% to 2.7% under load, while the road-biased Sportec 01 sees a shift from 7.7% to 4.3%. The RS starts lower, naturally, given its sharper, track-ready intent.

In simple terms, you get a tyre that behaves like two in one – compliant and confidence-inspiring on the road, then grippier and more focused when you’re chasing apexes.
