Ducati appears to be preparing a new Scrambler-based motorcycle, with fresh details surfacing via recently published documents from the California Air Resources Board. The filing confirms the model name as 2026 Ducati Formula ’73 and reveals that it will be powered by the familiar 803cc V-twin engine.
This air-cooled L-twin has long been the backbone of Ducati’s Scrambler range, and the Formula ’73 is expected to carry forward the same proven powerplant. The name itself offers a strong hint at the bike’s inspiration. “Formula ’73” is widely believed to reference Ducati’s legendary 750 Supersport Desmo, first introduced in 1973—a machine that went on to secure the 1975 Italian Championship with Franco Uncini aboard the race-prepped version.

The timing of this model is also noteworthy. Ducati celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2026, and the Formula ’73 could arrive as a commemorative, limited-run edition. Speculation suggests Ducati may restrict production to 100 units, or possibly just 73 units, as a nod to its heritage.
The leaked approval document also labels the motorcycle as a ‘T’ model, indicating production in Thailand, where Ducati currently manufactures its Scrambler lineup. For now, details regarding design changes, performance figures, pricing and market availability remain under wraps.
