Triumph is gearing up to expand its 400 cc lineup with the all-new Thruxton 400, expected to launch in 2025 with India most likely being its first market. Recently spotted testing, the cafe racer would offer a combination of retro and modern features with several unique updates distinguishing it from the Speed 400.
While the Thruxton 400 shares the same 398 cc, 40 bhp engine and rolling chassis as the Speed 400, Triumph is likely to tweak the suspension and final drive to accommodate its slightly heavier build. The added weight comes from a new half-fairing that draws inspiration from the Speed Triple 1200 RR, giving the bike a sharper, more aggressive look.
The Thruxton 400 also features raised clip-on handlebars for a sporty yet comfortable riding stance, comparable to the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650. Further ergonomic adjustments may include slightly rear-set footpegs for a more dynamic rider’s triangle.
At the rear, the bike sports a shorter tail section with a distinct tail light design and a retro-style pillion seat cowl. However, the single-piece grab handle may detract from its overall aesthetics.
Triumph is expected to launch the Thruxton 400 by mid-2025, offering (new/beginner) riders a fresh take on the cafe racer genre with adequate performance and timeless design.
