Lotfi Hamrouni set out on a 47 hour non-stop road trip on 6th Dec 2018 to honour the 47th UAE National Day and to attempt to set a new world record. Little did he knew that not only he would emerge successful in setting up a new world record, but he will also break his own previous world record for ‘covering the longest distance in 24 hours on a motorcycle on public roads’.
To support and cheer for Lotfi, a large number of people were present at the Emirates Cars and Bike Festival from where Lotfi started his epic journey. Tired but passionate and courageous Lotfi returned from his journey to a cheerful atmosphere created by all the present people. The crowd was cheering, “Welcome Back Lotfi, You Did it, Yes You Can!” Also present at the location were Mr Atiq Hassan Mubaraq, an official of Emirates Touring Club (ETC) and Emirates Motor Sports Federation (EMSF) and Marc Roisetter, General Manager, KTM UAE.
Astride on his KTM 1290 Super Adventure S, Lotfi left at around 5 pm on 6th Dec 2018. During the first 24 hours of his journey, he covered an impressive 3,070km and broke his own previous world record for ‘covering the longest distance (2,695km) in 24 hours on a motorcycle on public roads’ which he had set on a BMW S1000RR. And when he finished his journey, he set a new world record for ‘covering the longest distance in 47 hours on a motorcycle in a single country’ by covering a total of 5,325km.
Speaking about his phenomenal achievement, Lotfi Hamrouni said, “The weather conditions were good, very cold between 1am-5am, the bike was awesome, my mind and body were ready to achieve what I set out to. It was windy, but I’ve been riding for a few years now and I managed to keep my balance and keep safe on the road.”
He continued, “Sleep deprivation was challenging after the first 24 hours but I am gifted to perform well without sleep and was well prepared for this challenge. Riding is my passion and I can make the impossible happen.”
He further added, “My advice to everyone is to dream big, believe in yourself and have the Yes I can attitude. With my motorcycle achievements, I hope to inspire to get out of the comfort zone, discover their gifts in life and challenge themselves.”
