yamaha motoroid 2 concept

Yamaha’s futuristic MOTOROiD2 concept has bagged the Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2025, marking the brand’s fourth win in the prestigious global competition. This is Yamaha’s first win in the category in six years, following previous concept triumphs like the original MOTOROiD (2018) and YNF-01 (2019).

Unveiled to the public in 2023, the MOTOROiD2 is an evolution of the 2017 MOTOROiD concept. Yamaha designed it as a “lifetime companion,” aiming to establish a two-way emotional bond between rider and machine. Unlike traditional motorcycles, the MOTOROiD2 responds to its owner through a mix of light, touch, and movement, creating a dynamic, almost lifelike interaction.

The bike features a semi-transparent, organic design, with the entire chassis acting as a communication interface. A standout innovation is the “LEAF” haptic device embedded in the frame, enabling non-verbal communication via sensory feedback.

Awarded by Germany’s Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, the Red Dot Awards are among the most prestigious design honors globally. With MOTOROiD2, Yamaha continues to push the boundaries of motorcycle design, blurring the line between machine and companion in the most futuristic way yet.
