Motori Minarelli has developed a 300cc two-stroke engine that complies with the Euro5 emission norms. The engine was showcased at the EICMA 2022 and is likely to power the new Fantic XE300 model next year.
As per the reports, the engine has been developed by Motori Minarelli in-house and is based on the 250cc Yamaha enduro engine that used to come equipped in the YZ250.
Motori Minarelli has incorporated an exhaust valve that has been designed to optimise low and mid range performance. The engine also features electronic fuel injection and has an electric starter.
The design of the 300cc two-stroke engine was finessed by the University of Modena which undertook fluid-thermo-dynamic research and includes a trick decompression system to reduce mechanical momentum at start-up – thus helping the bike to restart after a stall.
It is being said that Motori Minarelli has already given this engine to a select few factory riders and has received a very positive response.
