After the remarkable round 1 of the 2019-20 National Sportsbike Super Series organised by Furiosa Racing, our expectations from the round 2 reached sky-high. We were ready to see some high-end action and, man, we weren’t disappointed at all! What a weekend it was and what nail-biting performance we witnessed from the racers.
Race 1-
The Saudi pocket rocket, Ahmed AL MUYINI rode his AHM Yamaha R6 to the limits and took an early lead and then stayed there till the end. However, it wasn’t easy. He faced heat from the reigning champion, Mahmoud Tannir who unfortunately lost the front end of his Honda CBR going into turn 8 and ended his race right then and there.
This brought Saska TOTARO (Ducati Pro-Twins) in the second spot followed by Christopher DEMPSEY. Tannir’s exit proved fruitful for Nasir SYED, who won in the 600cc Supersport category followed by the local Dubai female rider Katerina NAZAROVA who came back strong after round 1.
In the 600cc Superstock category, we had a new Rookie rider, Mohammed AL ZAHRANI who rode his AHM Yamaha R6 at the world-class Dubai Autodrome Grand Prix circuit for the very first time. He also gave some good fight to Dania AKEEL and successfully finished both the races.
Category-wise Top 3 standings in race 1-
Position | 600cc Superstock | 600cc Supersport | Ducati Pro-Twins |
1 | Ahmed AL MUYINI | Nasir SYED | Saska TOTARO |
2 | Christopher DEMPSEY | Katerina NAZAROVA | Ivan MARTINELLI |
3 | Ali ALHAMMADI | – | Paul TAPLIN |
Race 2
The TMR and Moto-Tech team worked tirelessly between Race 1 and 2 to have Mahmoud’s machine ready for race 2 and their efforts paid off. The champion was back in business. While Ahmed AL MUYINI continued to dominate in race 2 as well, Tannir reached the 2nd place overall, however, he had to fight for it as Saska TOTARO rode the Ducati beautifully hardly making any mistakes.
Nasir SYED, who was at the top spot in the 600cc Supersport category in race 1, crashed out in race 2. This bumped Katerina NAZAROVA a place up.
Superstock Rookie, Ricky Petzer had a successful weekend as he managed to take 2 Rookie wins for the day and an overall 10th in both races which was well deserved after all the effort he put into his Yamaha R6 after his crash in turn 1 in Race 2 of Round 1.
Category-wise Top 3 standings in race 2-
Position | 600cc Superstock | 600cc Supersport | Ducati Pro-Twins |
1 | Ahmed AL MUYINI | Mahmoud TANNIR | Saska TOTARO |

Two rounds of the 2019-20 National Sportsbike Super Series are over. With the kind of intense yet good competition we’ve seen so far, things are only going to heat up from here. We now move to round 3 which will take place on the last weekend of January 2020. See you then!
