honda radar based tech

Honda has started working on taking the radar technology on motorcycles to a whole new level. The company is now working on a safety system that will see radar and stereo cameras working to make the ride much safer.

According to leaked patent pictures, the Japanese firm has developed a tech that will see radar equipment along with two stereo cameras. This tech is being developed on the Honda Africa Twin and will be used to power the adaptive cruise control. From the pictures, it is clear that the cameras are mounted just below the headlight, with rubber mounts. There’s also a gimbal-styled mount to absorb vibrations, as well as adjustments in pitch and yaw.

There is also information that his new tech will be used to develop and deploy an automatic braking system. This feature is commonly used in cars these days and it works well in developed markets like Europe and US. But it will be interesting to see how this tech works on motorcycles.

As of now, there’s no information about the timeline of these features to roll out on Honda bikes. But the brand will deploy some of the tech on motorcycles like the Africa Twin and Goldwing.
