Jordan has a rich history with motorsports whether we talk about the racers or the land itself. It has some of the world’s most beautiful desert terrain in Wadi Rum which proves to be a perfect race course for rallying. And this year, we are going to hear the screaming exhausts of rally vehicles once again after seven long years at the Jordan Baja 2019!
Jordan Motorsport already confirmed that the Jordan Baja 2019 will be the 7th round of the 2019 FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas. It was in back in 2011 when Jordan had its last FIA World Rally Championship.
Speaking about the Jordan Baja 2019, Zaid Balqez, CEO, Jordan Motorsport, said, “At Jordan Motorsport, we also have a strong team with WRC pedigree that also puts on a very popular and well-organised round of the MERC. This is a new challenge for us and one that we are all looking forward to making one of the most popular Bajas in the world.”
The Jordan Baja is an off-road adventure based out of the Red Sea city of Aqaba and run-through Jordan southern desert around the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Wadi Rum where Hollywood blockbusters like The Martian, Aladdin and the upcoming Star Wars film have taken advantage of the breathtaking scenery.
The three-day event for cars, motorcycles and quads will take place from September 19-21. After rallying in Spain, Hungary and Poland during the summer months, competitors will now reach Jordan. After here, the series will then conclude with the Baja de Portalegre 500 in Portugal at the end of October.
We love motorsports and can’t wait for the Jordan Baja 2019 to kick off. We will be present at the event and will do our best to cover the entire event and give you all the latest updates. Stay tuned!
