MV Agusta has dropped yet another bombshell in the performance world, revealing fresh details about its all-new 5-cylinder engine platform—an engineering flex already deep in development at the brand’s Schiranna HQ. After its surprise debut at EICMA 2025, this powerplant is shaping up to be one of the most exciting engines we’ve seen in years, especially for riders who love their machines with personality, pedigree, and plenty of punch.

Designed to push boundaries across Supersport, Naked, and Touring segments, the new “quadrato” 5-cylinder platform is pure Italian ambition. With modular displacement spanning 850 cc to 1150 cc, MV claims over 240 hp at more than 16,000 rpm and up to 135 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm.

Despite its performance, the engine weighs under 60 kg, thanks to a focus on lightness and advanced electrification. It features an electric water pump and electric oil pump for sharper response and improved efficiency.

The 5-cylinder layout isn’t just for drama. Its unique firing order promises buttery torque delivery and impressive rideability without resorting to variable valve timing. A clever cranktrain design—three cylinders up front, two at the rear in a compact “U” configuration—helps slash vibrations and boost smoothness. The result? An engine narrower than an inline-four, shorter than a V4, and absolutely dripping with character.

Best of all, this powerhouse is slated to debut in a revived MV Agusta model that’s been missing from the line-up. The manufacturer isn’t naming names yet, but whatever it is, enthusiasts are already bracing themselves.
