The 2026 Yamaha R7 has been officially revealed and it’s more than just a facelift. The middleweight sportbike now packs serious tech, a sharper chassis, and the kind of finesse that’ll make both track junkies and daily riders grin inside their helmets.

Borrowing DNA straight from the R1, the 2026 Yamaha R7 gets a six-axis IMU — a major leap that brings lean-sensitive traction control, slide control, lift control, and cornering brake control into the mix. Riders can also choose between three power modes and two customizable setups via Yamaha’s MyRide app. And yes, launch control now joins the party, making this a proper track weapon straight out of the box.

Throttle response gets an upgrade too, thanks to the Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (Y-CCT) system for smoother, more precise power delivery. The third-gen Quick Shift System (QSS) offers two modes — letting riders clutchlessly swap cogs up or down depending on their riding scenario.

Chassis refinements make the new Yamaha R7 even more agile. The updated frame retains its lightweight character but benefits from revised geometry, a new triple clamp, and 41mm fully adjustable forks with aluminum internals — shaving off 350 grams. The bike also gets Yamaha’s SpinForged wheels and a reworked riding position with lower seat height and revised handlebars for better control and movement.

Power still comes from the tried-and-tested 689cc CP2 twin, producing 72.4 bhp and 68 Nm of torque — plenty to keep things exciting on twisty roads or tight circuits.

Finishing touches include a modern switchgear setup, cruise control, and emergency stop signals. The 2026 R7 arrives in Icon Blue, Midnight Black, and a special Anniversary White celebrating Yamaha’s 70th year.
