KTM enthusiasts, rejoice! The long-awaited road-going version of the KTM 990 RC R has been officially confirmed by the Austrian giant, set to hit the streets in 2025.
After teasing the global motorcycle community with track-only RC 8 C models for the last few years, KTM is responding to the demand for a road-ready sports bike bearing the iconic RC R name.
The 990 RC R promises to deliver an exhilarating ride, closely related to its track-only counterpart, with minimal modifications required to transform it into a track edition machine.
While final specs and details are yet to be unveiled, the bike is expected to offer a claimed 128 PS and 103 Nm of torque. Its engine will feature an ergo-crafted stainless steel muffler for optimal performance. Notably, the gear shift can be flipped to race shift for on-track riding.
The 990 RC R boasts a new frame, swingarm, and bodywork, optimized for improved feel and stability. Inspired by the RC16 MotoGP machine, its bodywork exudes a powerful presence, featuring a centrally positioned fuel tank for ergonomic design.
Suspension duties would be handled by WP APEX Open Cartridge units at both ends, complemented by light weight cast aluminum wheels with Michelin tires.
Excitingly, KTM will showcase a prototype version of the bike in selected European Supersport series events as a wildcard entry in 2024, offering enthusiasts a glimpse of what’s to come.
Stay tuned for more updates as we eagerly await the arrival of the KTM 990 RC R, promising to be a standout addition to KTM’s formidable lineup.
