After unveiling the 2021 KTM Adventure R and Adventure Rally R, the Austrian motorcycle company has recently revealed the new 2021 KTM 890 Adventure – the standard variant amongst the trio. Sharing the same frame and engine, the 890 Adventure promises to deliver fun without compromising on comfort.
Powering the 2021 KTM 890 Adventure is an 899cc parallel-twin engine that puts out 103 hp of power and 100 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox which is accompanied by a slipper and assist clutch. Customers can also opt for an optional bi-directional quickshifter. KTM says that this twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor has a service interval of 15,000 km!
The new 890 Adventure looks identical to the other Adventure models that KTM has in its product catalogue. It has the signature headlamp with attractive LED DRLs that impart the motorcycle a familiar front look. The design of the LED headlamp mask is inspired by the KTM 450 Rally motorcycles. Sitting behind the tall windscreen is a 5-in fully-colour and fully-digital TFT display that shows a plethora of information to the rider.
KTM has incorporated several useful electronic rider aids in the new 890 Adventure. There is traction control, cornering ABS, off-road ABS, different riding modes, and more. In terms of hardware, we have fully adjustable damping WP Apex open-cartridge front forks and linkage-free spring-preload and rebound-damping adjustable WP Apex shock at the rear. The braking performance is provided by 320mm discs w/ 4-piston radially mounted calipers at the front and a single 260mm rear disc.
The 2021 KTM 890 Adventure appears to be a great overall package that should be able to act as an ultimate road and off-road companion. It has a powerful and torquey engine, necessary hardware and electronics, and the build to take on most of the obstacles. KTM offers the new 890 Adventure in two colour options – Orange and Black.
