BMW Motorrad has taken the wraps off the 2025 BMW R 1300 R – a bold, updated roadster built around the German brand’s new 1,300cc liquid-cooled boxer engine. Producing 145 bhp and 149 Nm, it’s paired with a 6-speed gearbox and standard quickshifter, with an optional Automated Shift Assist for seamless riding.
Tech-wise, the new boxer naked bike gets a full-LED lighting setup, Bluetooth-enabled TFT display, and three standard ride modes – Eco, Road, and Rain. For spirited riders, Dynamic and Dynamic Pro modes are available as options. The new LED headlight design looks modern and much sleeker than what we are used to seeing in the current BMW’s naked bikes like the F 900 R.
“With the new BMW R 1300 R, we’ve taken our dynamic roadster with boxer engine to a whole new level. Focused uncompromisingly on riding dynamics, it delivers a far sportier experience than its predecessor thanks to a completely redesigned engine and chassis, while still retaining core BMW values such as touring capability and comfort,” said Christof Lischka, Head of Development BMW Motorrad.
The chassis is all-new, featuring a stiffer sheet metal main frame and cast aluminium rear subframe. Suspension is handled by a 47mm USD fork up front and an updated Paralever EVO at the rear, with optional Dynamic ESA electronic adjustability for maximum control.
Weighing in with lighter 17-inch wheels (1.4 kg less than before), the BMW R 1300 R stops confidently with twin front discs and a single rear disc.
The styling of the motorcycle remains aggressive and muscular as one would expect from a BMW. For the colors, the company is offering Snapper Rocks metallic (base), Racing Blue metallic (Exclusive), Lightweight Uni (Performance), and Blackstorm metallic (Option 719 Kilauea).
