Suzuki appears to be reviving its legendary GSX-R lineup, including the iconic GSX-R600, GSX-R750, and GSX-R1000. Though these models are currently unavailable in most markets, except select regions like the USA, the Japanese brand seems ready to reintroduce its track-focused sportbikes globally.
Toshihiro Suzuki, president of Suzuki Motor Corporation, hinted at this development in a recent interview. While Suzuki’s current sportbike offerings—such as the GSX-R125 and the practicality-focused GSX-8R—serve specific segments, the new GSX-R models aim to bring back the thrill of serious inline-four performance machines. These bikes were discontinued in many regions due to stricter emission norms, which made production costly and less viable.
Suzuki has no plans to return to MotoGP or World Superbike racing but is focused on delivering high-performance sportbikes to enthusiasts. The company aims to honor its racing heritage and perhaps the new GSX-R range might debut at the next EICMA.
