Homologation documents filed in Europe have revealed key details about the upcoming KTM 1390 Super Duke RR, pointing to a sharper, more exclusive version of the brand’s flagship naked motorcycle. According to the filings, the RR variant will be significantly lighter and equipped with more premium hardware than the standard Super Duke R.
The documents suggest the 1390 Super Duke RR will shed around 8.5 kg compared to the Super Duke R, which tips the scales at 212.5 kg fully fuelled. The weight loss is expected to come from race-focused upgrades similar to those seen on the earlier 1290 Super Duke RR. These are likely to include an Akrapovic exhaust system, lighter alloy wheels, a lithium-ion battery, and extensive use of carbon fibre components.
A slightly wider handlebar has also been noted in the homologation paperwork, likely to accommodate lever guards, reinforcing the RR’s track-oriented intent. While the documents do not specify suspension details, the bike is expected to feature WP semi-active suspension, potentially similar to the setup used on the Super Duke EVO R.
Mechanically, the RR will remain true to the standard model. Power will come from the familiar 1,350cc liquid-cooled V-twin, producing 187.4 bhp and 145 Nm, ensuring the RR retains the brutal performance the Super Duke nameplate is known for.
KTM has not officially announced a launch timeline, but the Super Duke 1390 RR is expected to be produced in limited numbers, mirroring the 500-unit run of the 1290 RR. As with previous RR models, it will command a significant premium over the Super Duke R, positioning it as a collector-grade streetfighter for hardcore enthusiasts.
