Honda has finally taken the wraps off the all-new CBR500R Four in China, and this one’s aimed straight at riders who miss the scream of a high-revving four-cylinder sportbike. First showcased at the China International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition last year, the bike is now officially on sale, with production handled by Wuyang-Honda.
At its heart sits a 502cc inline four-cylinder engine, delivering 72 bhp at 11,000 rpm and 47.5 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm. With a compression ratio of 12.3:1, this motor is built to rev hard, promising an engaging top-end rush. Honda claims a top speed of 209 kmph, putting it right in the league of the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R.

Weighing in at 189 kg, the CBR500R Four balances performance with usability. It rides on a steel frame paired with a cast aluminium swingarm, while KYB-sourced USD forks up front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear handle suspension duties.

Tech hasn’t been ignored either. The bike features ride-by-wire throttle, a compact version of Honda’s E-Clutch system, and a five-inch TFT display with RoadSync connectivity. A 14-litre fuel tank ensures decent touring range for a machine that’s clearly built for spirited riding.

While it may be priced higher than rivals like the CFMoto 500SR, the Honda badge brings with it a reputation for reliability and refinement.
With global markets next in line, the CBR500R Four could mark the return of accessible inline-four excitement in the mid-size segment.
