Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster To Return, Expected Launch In 2027

Harley-Davidson is gearing up to bring back one of its most iconic names, the 883 Sportster. And this time, it’s part of a bigger plan.

Under new CEO Artie Starrs, the brand’s “Back to Bricks” strategy aims to reconnect with its roots. Simple bikes, mechanical feel, and more character. The Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster fits that brief perfectly.

The Sportster was dropped in 2022 under CEO Jochen Zeitz. Stricter emission norms made the old platform hard to justify. But now, it’s making a comeback. Reports suggest a 2027 launch.

And here’s the exciting bit – it’s expected to stay air-cooled. Under the tank, the old-school 883cc pushrod V-twin could return. The same heartbeat that powered the Iron 883. Simple, torquey, easy to live with, and more importantly, easy to modify.

Harley is also expected to build a platform that invites real customization and not just bolt-on parts. The kind that defined the Sportster for decades. Chop it, tweak it, make it yours.

If done right, this could be more than a comeback.
