Concorso D’Eleganza Villa D’Este 2020 has been postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It is one of the most famous motorcycle shows in the world. In May 2019, BMW unveiled its R18 concept with a 1800cc Boxer engine for the very first time at the Concorso D’Eleganza Villa D’Este.
This year, the Concorso D’Eleganza Villa D’Este was scheduled to take place on 22-24 May near Lake Como, Italy. However, considering the deteriorating health conditions in the country, the organisers have decided to postpone the event. The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2020 might be held on 16-18 October. The new dates are expected to be confirmed by July.
In other news, BMW R18-based cruiser motorcycle is supposed to be launched on 3rd April. However, considering the current global health crisis, BMW will likely postpone the launch. BMW R18 has a massive 1800cc twin-cylinder boxer engine is the largest boxer engine BMW has ever made. In fact, BMW claims that this is the largest engine of its type and configuration to be put into a production motorcycle.
The boxer engine is tuned to churn out 91 horsepower at 4750 revs and generate an enormous 158 Nm of peak torque from as low as 3000 revs. BMW says that out of all the Newton-metres, 150 of them is available from 2000 to 4000 revs. The maximum engine speed is 5750 rpm, while the idling speed is 950 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and it weighs around 111 kg.
