Indian Motorcycle has a rich history in the flat track racing. Its FTR750 flat tracker has been a successful race machine and won three Grand National Titles in a row. To make its customers (more) aware of the FTR750 and to get them as close to the motorcycle as possible, the American brand has announced the new Indian FTR Carbon.
“For the discerning rider, the FTR Carbon offers a collectable motorcycle with the highest level of finish and raises the bar for American motorcycles once again,” said Mike Dougherty, President of Indian Motorcycle. “Delivering the finest riding experience and with the carbon accents enhancing the unique FTR styling, the FTR Carbon is sure to draw admiring looks anywhere you ride.”
The Indian FTR Carbon is a premium addition in the company’s FTR lineup. It is more desirable than its siblings because of its exquisite carbon-fibre body parts. The headlight cowl, passenger seat cowl, front fender, tank/airbox covers, all are finished with carbon-fibre. There’s also an ‘FTR Carbon’ branded centre console plate to remind you that you’re riding a special motorcycle. Indian has also thrown in the pair of black titanium Akrapovic low-mount exhaust.
The FTR Carbon shares its engine with the other FTR bikes in the series. It is a 1203 cc, V-twin which puts out 93 kW or 124 horsepower and 120 Nm of torque. It is a very capable engine, especially in the low and mid ranges. The bike also comes with lean-angle sensitive stability control, ABS, traction control, and wheelie mitigation control, and three riding modes (Sport, Standard, Rain).
Indian Motorcycle has also given the FTR Carbon cruise control, dual-disc Brembo brakes, traction control, full-LED lighting for better visibility, and a 4.3-in LED touchscreen dashboard featuring a USB fast-charge port and Bluetooth compatibility for charging and controlling mobile devices.
Providing a perfect balance of comfort, control and agility, the FTR Carbon combines long travel (150mm) fully adjustable suspension with a commanding, upright riding position for predictable, precise cornering and city manoeuvrability.
With the addition of the new FTR Carbon, Indian Motorcycle now has 4 models in its FTR range. The other three models are the FTR 1200 standard, FTR Rally, FTR 1200 S.
