BMW is gearing up to expand its R 1300 lineup with the R 1300 R, R 1300 RS, and R 1300 RT, all set for a 2026 release. Following the R 1300 GS and GS Adventure, these models will share the same 1,300cc air- and liquid-cooled Boxer engine. Certification data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) confirms these additions.

The R 1300 R will be a naked roadster, the R 1300 RS a faired sport-tourer, and the R 1300 RT a more upright touring machine. While peak output remains unconfirmed, they are likely to match the GS models’ 145 hp. Expect these models to offer BMW’s Automated Shift Assistant, eliminating the need for a manual clutch.

BMW’s new sheet metal frame from the R 1300 GS optimizes space and accommodates a longer swingarm while reducing the wheelbase, making it easier for BMW to reconfigure the platform for these variants.

In addition, EPA data hints at a new R 12 G/S for 2026, equipped with the same 1,170cc air/oil-cooled Boxer engine found in the R 12 nineT and R 12 cruiser. While exact performance specs remain unknown, the R 12 nineT delivers 109 hp, while the R 12 cruiser offers 95 hp.

The R 12 G/S may be more off-road focused, potentially featuring longer suspension travel and a 21-inch front wheel, echoing the iconic R 80 G/S. While official announcements are pending, expect BMW to unveil these models within the next few months.
