BMW Motorrad is gearing up to launch the production version of the F450GS by the end of 2025. First previewed as a concept, the upcoming baby GS was confirmed during the recent BMW Motorrad Days in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, and promises to bring adventure-ready tech in a compact package.
At the heart of the F450GS is a new 450cc parallel-twin engine, producing around 47.3 bhp, perfectly positioned for A2-license holders in global markets. The production model is expected to weigh around 175 kg, making it lightweight yet capable for both new riders and seasoned tourers seeking a nimble machine.

BMW is also introducing tech that could set the F450GS apart in its segment. The motorcycle would be offered in two gearbox configurations: a standard manual and a semi-automatic option featuring ASA (Automated Shift Assistant)—a tech derivative from BMW’s flagship models. The semi-auto variant is designed to attract newer, younger riders by reducing complexity without sacrificing engagement.
Though pricing hasn’t been revealed, the semi-automatic version is expected to carry a premium. BMW has also hinted at expanding this 450cc platform into future models, including a naked roadster and possibly a sportier iteration. However, a retro-styled version isn’t on the cards, despite the popularity of such models from rivals like Royal Enfield and Triumph.

The F450GS is shaping up to be a versatile entry-point into the GS lineup – lightweight, adventure capable, big-bike tech and rider-friendly.
