BMW Motorrad has unveiled the R 12 S, reviving the iconic café racer with a modern twist. Originally launched five decades ago, the R 12 S returns with bold updates and cutting-edge technology.
On the design front, the R 12 S flaunts classic café racer aesthetics with a bat fairing, smoked bubble visor, and a seat cowl. Painted in a striking Lava Orange with contrasting white highlights, the bike features bar-end mirrors and a distinctive left-side-mounted twin exhaust setup.
Under the retro charm lies a 1,170cc boxer-twin engine delivering 109bhp and 115Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox and shaft drive. Electronic rider aids include traction control, multiple ride modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic), engine brake control, hill start assist, heated grips, cruise control, and keyless ride.
Premium touches include the rounded mini-fairing, solo seat with a rear hump, and red double pinstripes. Built on the R 12 nineT platform, the bike also boasts a vast catalog of customizable Motorrad accessories.
The R 12 S rides on fully adjustable USD forks and a rear monoshock, complemented by 310mm twin front discs and a 265mm rear disc. It rolls on 17-inch wheels with grippy 120/70 front and 180/55 rear tires.
Optional upgrades include titanium exhausts, navigation, Tire Pressure Control (RDC), Anti-Theft Alarm System, Connected Ride Control, and a digital dash with micro-TFT display.
