kawasaki ninja zx-6r

Kawasaki has announced a global recall of the 2024 and 2025 Ninja ZX-6R, including the KRT Edition and 40th Anniversary model, due to a critical engine defect.

The issue stems from over-torqued crankshaft bolts during manufacturing, which may restrict oil clearance around the crankshaft bearing. If left unaddressed, the defect could cause the bearing to fail and, in extreme cases, lead to engine seizure without warning.

The recall affects approximately 17,800 units in the U.S. alone, with similar action being taken across Europe, the UK, and other international markets.

Kawasaki has issued a warning to U.S. customers to avoid riding the motorcycle until it has been inspected and, if needed, repaired by an authorized dealership.

Owners will be contacted directly by the company and advised to visit the nearest Kawasaki service center, where technicians will check and replace the crankshaft bolts if required.
