Yamaha Racing has made the WR450F Rally Replica now available. The bike has been made by DRAG’ON, a company which is the partner of Rally Raid parts and accessories. It has collaborated with Yamaha Motor Europe to make this replica a reality. The WR450F rally replica is based on the rally motorcycle which was used by rallyist Xavier de Soultrait to win Merzouga Rally 2017.
Powering the Yamaha WR450F rally replica is a 449cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine with fuel injection. It is mated to a 5-speed transmission which transmits the power to the rear wheel via a chain-drive mechanism. As of now, the official power and torque figures haven’t been disclosed by Yamaha. To keep the weight in check and also to extract the max performance from the engine, an Akrapovic exhaust system comes as standard.
Since the WR450F is a rally replica, it has got rugged parts and necessary equipment to tackle a rally course. It has got USD forks at the front and a link-type mono-shock at the rear to handle the suspension duties. The front suspension has a travel of 310mm whereas the rear one settles down at 318mm. The solid semi-double cradle frame gives the bike superior handling abilities as well as strength for to take the beating of a rally oriented environment.
It also has a 21-inch wheel at the front and an 18-inch wheel at the rear (spoke wheels) with proper off-road focused tyres to kill it on the uneven surfaces. The stopping power comes from a single 290mm disc up front and a 245mm disc at the rear.
According to DRAG’ON, the owners of the Yamaha WR450F rally replica will get opportunities to take part in 2018 Dakar Rally. The company will offer a tailor made Rally Race Service – from transporting a full stock of official spare parts to offering race side mechanical support. Thus, the participant only needs to focus on the race.
