For some time, we are seeing some nice new updates from the Harley-Davidson with their CVO and Breakout launches. They had some really good updates that make them modern and desirable appealing to a larger audience. Yamaha comes with its own response with the revealing of its new and grand bagger called the Star Eluder.
This is the second America-only tourer of the year from the brand while the previous one was the Star Venture and now this, the Star Eluder. The Star Eluder features the same engine from the Star Venture which is a 1,854cc all-powerful and mighty engine.
By the looks of the Star Eluder, it seems like it might rival the Goldwing very soon. The screen on the fairing is shorter and sliced a few inches above the fairing and you do not see the top box or the pillion backrest on the new model anymore.
This is what makes it a bagger than a full-on tourer. In the past, we have seen the Goldwing do the same thing for the Honda Goldwing F6B and that was followed by BMW which made the K1600B from the K1600GT. The Star Eluder gets similar tech as the Venture with traction control, riding modes, and everything heated including the seats, handlebars et al.
As with baggers, torque takes a front seat than horsepower and the Star Eluder is no different as it boasts a mighty 170Nm of torque which helps pull the 396kg mass with ease. There is an extra ‘GT’ package that adds another kilo of weight and gets you CB radio and satellite navigation.
Although the bike comes with Bluetooth integrated infotainment, there is no denying the fact that some would want more. There is a beautiful seven-inch touch screen for easy access to features and to keep things floating the 46mm forks are capable enough with the bike also coming with ABS for maximum safety to enjoy your long tours.
