Yamaha R1 completed 20 successful years in the motorcycle industry. Yamaha really gave its competitors nightmares when it launched the mighty YZF R1 two decades ago. Even today, the R1 is one of the best superbikes available in the market. And to celebrate its 20th anniversary, Yamaha has given a new color to the R1, but with a twist.

The twist is that the new color is not available for normal road-legal R1 but only for the race-spec bike prepared for the 41st edition of the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance race. The race will be held on 27-29 July 2018.

The new color is a mix of red and white. It is the same color combination which the first ever Yamaha R1 was launched. Yamaha has also used the original YZF lettering on the new R1 to make it that much more special.

Participating in this year’s Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance race is Yamaha factory racing team with Alex Lowes, Michael van der Mark, and Katsuyuki Nakasuga as its riders. Then we’ve got the YART Yamaha team with riders Broc Parkes, Max Neukirchner, Marvin Fritz and Takuya Fujita. And the GMT94 Yamaha race team consist of riders David Checa, Mike Di Meglio and Niccolo Canepa.
