While Ducati was in the process of gathering as much information as possible regarding its new fairing mounted on the Desmosedici bikes, Yamaha too jumped into the testing game on the last day of the 2019 Sepang test. Yamaha snapped on its new fairing on Vinales’ M1 to see how it performs.
The wings on Yamaha’s new fairing has got a split design. There are two wings on either side of the fairing. Yamaha would be eyeing to see an improvement in the aerodynamic efficiency of the M1.
While Vinales was out on the track testing the new fairing, we aren’t sure whether Rossi too had them on or not. Well, we’ll get to know about that perhaps during the final official test in Qatar.
As of now, it seems that the 2019 Yamaha M1 is suiting Vinales because he was the fastest man on the track on day 2 of the Sepang test. He was also the first rider to beat Lorenzo’s unofficial all-time lap record on day 3 of the test but the Ducatis were even faster and hence he was shifted down to 4th in the overall standings on the closing day of the Sepang test.
