There are numerous electric motorcycles now available in the market for purchase. We have really come a long way in this industry. And we still have quite a distance to cover. Entering into the electric motorcycle segment is a UK-based brand called Veitis. And its perception of this segment is more of a mixture of classical and modern elements. Therefore, Veitis has come up with its electric bobber, the eV-Twin.
We have a predetermined perspective when we talk about electric motorcycles- they’re modern-day machines hence carry a futuristic design, advanced digital instrument consoles, and whatnot. However, you’d be surprised to see how classic yet beautiful the Veitis eV-Twin is.
The eV-Twin is designed and manufactured in the UK using the finest materials and finishes. It is so minimalistic and pure. It looks like a proper bobber. And to make that happen, Veitis has cleverly built fins around the electric motor. This gives an impression of a proper V-twin petrol engine. The whole bike is hand-built. The frame is designed and built by Veitis design team who has extensive experience in building race frames for classic race motorcycles as well as Formula 1 components. The suspension comes from Ceriani forks that have full damping adjustment, resulting in a superior frame and fork performance with classic Veitis styling.
The electric motor of the Veitis eV-Twin produces a limited power of 11kW or close to 15hp. This isn’t much but Veitis says that the peak power of this electric motor isn’t limited. So, all the torque is provided instantly resulting in superb acceleration and riding experience. Just like any other electric motor, this unit also doesn’t have any moving parts. Therefore, virtually it has no maintenance whatsoever. Veitis says that the eV-Twin has a range of around 160km (100mi) on a full charge. The charging time from dead to full is 3 hours 45 minutes.
Riding the Veitis eV-Twin is also very easy. There is no clutch, no gears, thus making it a breeze to ride around the city. And whenever you want to feel the wind, you just need to twist the throttle and it zooms to an electronically limited top speed of 120kph (70mph). Also, its weight of just 165kg makes it even more fun, agile and fast.
Veitis will make only a limited number of eV-Twins and chances are they will be restricted to be sold in the UK. As far as the pricing is concerned, it would cost around $51,000 or approx AED 187,338.
