BMW Motorrad USA has issued a recall that involves the single-cylinder G 310 R and G 310 GS models. The notice says that around 2,376 units of these two motorcycles have been affected by an issue with the kickstand.

Apparently, over prolonged use of the kickstand the section of the frame that houses the kickstand bushing could sustain damage or possibly break. Consequently, the rider and/or pillion could face injuries.

BMW Motorrad USA will notify the customers of the affected models about the issue. They would need to visit the nearest BMW Motorrad dealership where the bike will be inspected by the professionals. The repair could involve installation of a reinforcement plate and a new kickstand, however, if required, BMW will also replace the frame. Of course, all the work will be done free of charge. The recall process will begin from 7 Aug 2018.

The BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS share the same engine – a 313cc unit that produces 34 bhp of max power and generates 28 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Both the bikes are good entry-level products and should be easy to ride especially for the new learners.
