We are huge fans of the Honda Africa Twin and ever since we did its review, we fell in love with it even more. But that was quite a while ago, almost 3 years. A lot has changed since then but the Africa Twin didn’t lose its charm. And now we’ve heard that there’s a new one coming soon!
As per our colleagues at Cycle World, crucial specifications of the upcoming Honda Africa Twin has been leaked and it revealed some interesting points. First, the new bike would be badged as Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin, which tells us that it will have a bigger and more powerful engine. It would be a 1,084cc parallel-twin which would churn out around 100bhp; not that big of a bump as the current model produces 94bhp. Perhaps, Honda isn’t trying to be the most powerful guy in the room, it’s trying to be the smartest one. This engine would be Euro-5 compliant that means the bike would be a little bit quieter at the exhaust.
The new Africa Twin would be available in 4 variants, two of them would be equipped with a manual gearbox whereas the others would get Honda’s DCT. Of course, the base model will be different than the adventure models. However, it’s quite likely that Honda is going to provide some of the necessary bits and pieces as standard across the board. For example, a larger windscreen and fuel tank.
As far as the design and styling of the bike are concerned, unfortunately, we don’t have any pictures. But it’s being said that there’s going to an aggressive headlight and a redesign tail section. We can also expect to see some new set of graphics and decals.
Honda has said nothing about all this and but it’s being believed that the new Africa Twin will be launched in the next few months! So we can expect to spot one at this year’s EICMA or Intermot. Fingers crossed!
