With the festive season just around the corner, people are busy planning their holidays. And so is Triumph. It is quite obvious that the British firm will have something different to make the New Year 2019 special, especially for its loyal customers. There is something exciting coming up in Jan next year that is definitely going to become the best New Year purchase for 750 people.
What is TFC?
Triumph is back with its TFC range. TFC stands for Triumph Factory Custom. Back in 2014, Triumph built two bikes in this range – TFC Bobber and TFC Scrambler – however, they were not for sale but for a factory contest for the best custom Bonneville design. But this time it’s different. A new Triumph Thruxton R TFC model is likely to be launched in 2019 Jan. It was first displayed at Triumph’s international dealer conference in Oct 2018.
The Thruxton R TFC will be a limited edition model. Only 750 units will be made available worldwide. Triumph has done its homework to make sure that this Thruxton lives up to its TFC badge pretty well.
What’s new?
The first thing you’ll notice is the use of carbon fiber. There is lots of it. It looks great and also helps to reduce the weight of the bike. Triumph has also tweaked the engine a bit. It is the same 1200cc parallel-twin engine that comes with the regular Thruxton, but it has got 10 more horses to play with. Therefore, its total power output has become 106hp.
We also see a titanium custom exhaust from Vance & Hines and new engine maps including revised riding modes (rain, road, and sport) to get you going. All of these new elements have helped Triumph to make the Thruxton R TFC around 4.7kg lighter.
Triumph has also upgraded the front suspension setup by replacing the Showa’s with Ohlins NIX 30. The rear remains untouched. The brakes are from Brembo include the radial calipers and radial master cylinders. You also get Metzeler Racetec RR tires. Overall, the Thruxton R TFC is going to be a much more performance oriented bike than its stock counterpart.
Availability and Price
As of now, Triumph has not released any official statement about a launch date or price of the new Thruxton R TFC. But it is quite likely that we’re going to see it in Jan 2019. Expect the new bike to be priced on the dearer side than the current model.
