Yamaha YZF-R1 is one of the most popular superbikes in the world. It has won Yamaha many races and many hearts. Now it has turned 20, and Yamaha has built a limited edition model to celebrate this milestone. This model is called the Yamaha YZF-R1 GYTR.

The YZF-R1 GYTR is not the usual R1 because it is being put together by the members of the official Yamaha Racing Team crew of the Suzuka 8-Hour endurance race. And just for your knowledge, Yamaha has won the race again this year making it its fourth consecutive win. So the guys behind the new YZF-R1 GYTR know what they’re doing.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the R1, Yamaha is going to build only 20 units of the YZF-R1 GYTR. Yes, only 20, and this isn’t for a specific country but the entire world. This makes the YZF-R1 GYTR that much more special.

Yamaha is tight-lipped about the specifications of its new motorcycle. The R1 is itself quite a bomb so I can only imagine what the YZF-R1 GYTR would be capable of. We do have a small list of parts that are definitely going to make it into this limited edition bike. The list includes:

  • Akrapovic exhaust- Full Evo 2 Titanium
  • Brembo brake setup- GP4-RX front calipers, 320mm T-Drive discs, and 19RCS Corsa Corta master cylinder
  • Carbon fiber fairings
  • Ohlins suspension- FGRT 219 forks, TTX36 GP shock
  • Bridgestone slicks- V02 soft

To make the YZF-R1 GYTR even more special, Yamaha is going to provide each and every unit with its own limited edition number engraved on the top yoke. So you can know out of the 20 available units, which one do you have. You will also get a certificate of authenticity. The pictures of the YZF-R1 GYTR in the press release have the bike in a red and white color combination. Yamaha has not said anything about the available colors, but we highly doubt that there would be any choice in this regard.

And we come to the price now. There would some variation in the cost depending on the country you are in. But to give you an idea, the YZF-R1 GYTR would cost approx AED 165,347 plus. We’d really love to see at least one unit of this magnificent race-track machine the Middle East. Do let us know if you get one!
