Suzuki DR-Z400S is a dual sport motorcycle whereas the DR-Z400SM falls under the category of supermoto. Both of these motorbikes have been recalled by Suzuki.

According to the recall notice, only 2018 models of the DR-Z400S and DR-Z400SM are the victims. The recall has been announced over a possibility that could cause the rear light or tail light not to illuminate.

The report suggests that the resin that fills the rear brake light may have adhered to the internal electrical contacts which could result in such a failure. This could be a safety hazard for the motorcyclist and others.

Suzuki is going to talk to the customers of the affected models and will notify them about the issue which will be resolved by the Suzuki dealerships by installing a new brake light switch assembly at free of cost.

Both the Suzuki DR-Z400S and DR-Z400SM features the same 398cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The main differences between the SM and the S are the inverted front fork, wide, spoke-style wheels, and 300mm diameter floating front brake rotor. The inverted fork contributes to less unsprung weight and improved overall handling, while the large brake and wider rims with high-grip tires offer an exhilarating sportbike experience.
