Indian Motorcycle has been playing its cards about the FTR 1200 close to its chest. However, the latest spy shots of the upcoming bike reveal that the bike is not much different than its concept that was showcased earlier by the company.
The upcoming bike in its supposed spy shot looks like it has a race-bike seat with no rear overhang which might make it practically questionable. However, it might be masked with high-level pipes in the build along with a race geometry that gives it a more rugged and aggressive stance.
With a race-specific performance, the bike is expected to lock horns with its Italian counterparts including Ducati, MV Augusta and Fantic who are putting their neck out to create race bikes for the road.
The FTR 1200 sports the same 1,133cc V-Twin engine from the Scout, in a one-off frame. Indian claims that the bike will weigh 194kg, which is close to 53kg less than the Scout. Similar to its younger sibling, the FTR 750, the upcoming bike will also sport a similar suspension kit of Öhlins as standard.
Earlier, the company in August announced the 2019 Scout lineup with new paint options on the Scout Sixty, Scout, and Scout Bobber.
The Scout and Scout Bobber will get a USB charging port near the speedometer. Paint options are new for all three, with the 999cc Scout Sixty offering a choice between Thunder Black, White Smoke, Ruby Metallic and Star Silver over Thunder Black. The 1,133cc, 94hp Scout gets Thunder Black, Deep Water Metallic, Metallic Jade, Indian Motorcycle Red over Thunder Black and Willow Green over Ivory Cream on its palette. The aggressive Scout Bobber now comes in Thunder Black, Thunder Black Smoke, White Smoke, and Bronze Smoke.
Along with a new paint job, there will also be an exclusive range of touring accessories. The Scout-branded paraphernalia will include bags, passenger seats, and windscreens. The rider’s triangle of the Scout will also be customizable by fitting Indian’s reduced or extended reach handlebars, seats as well as foot controls.
