The mighty and powerful KTM 1290 Super Adventure is surely capable to travel long distances without a hiccup. Thanks to its beautiful and torquey engine, it can much many miles irrespective of the terrain. However, what good all that would be if you can’t manage the fuel that drives the heart? Latest news from KTM tells us about a fuel leakage in the 1290 Super Adventure.
KTM has said that there might be a fuel leak from the tank cover mount insert of some 1290 Super Adventure bikes. This is somewhere near the seat area of the bike’s fuel tank. If fuel manages to leak from here it could drip and come in contact with some electrical components which would cause a spark. And all your trip adventures ends right there.
As per the reports, 1,588 units of 1290 Super Adventure motorcycles that have been manufactured in 2015 and 2016 are affected by this issue. KTM has contacted the owners of the affected models and notified them about the problem. They are advised to make an appointment with their local KTM authorized dealer where the bike will be inspected. If the tank serial number falls within a certain range, an insert conversion kit will be installed even though there is no sign of fuel leakage. However, if a leaking tank is found then that will be replaced entirely.
