Honda CRF450X is popular among the off-road motorcyclists. It ticks the right checkboxes necessary to have fun in an environment where the ground has different laws of friction. However, the is not road-legal and bikers need to carry it in a pickup or a lorry to the off-road track or a trail in the woods. But things are going to change because Honda is bringing the 2019 CRF450L in the market.

So why all the excitement and hype about this new Honda? The new 2019 CRF450L is a dual-purpose dirt bike that is fully road legal. That is sweet news for the dirt bikers, as now they wouldn’t need to carry one at the back of a pickup truck.

The Honda CRF450L is based on the standard CRF450X dirt bike. It has got the same 449cc, single cylinder, four-stroke engine. Honda has not released the power and torque figures yet, but they will be more than sufficient to get the adrenaline pumping in your body on those untraveled off-road trails.

To make the CRF450L a road-legal machine, Honda had to do certain modifications and changes to the original CRF450X. To begin with, the CRF450L has got some crucial accessories that are extremely significant on a road-legal motorcycle – like a stand, horn, rear-view mirrors, and speedometer along with the LED tail lights. On a serious note, to make the CRF450L easily rideable on the tarmac, Honda included an extra 6th gear in the engine. Honda also altered the valve timing to get a wider and smoother torque curve. The compression ratio of the engine has been reduced from 13.5:1 to 12.0:1.

The 2019 CRF450L also gets a redesigned airbox. It also has a catalytic converter to make the world a better place to live in. Honda said that the service interval of the CRF450L will be 32,000 km, however, the air filter, engine oil, and the engine oil filter should be replaced after every 1,000 km.

Honda has increased the capacity of the fuel tank of the 2019 CRF450L to 7.6 liters. After all the necessary changes and additions, the weight of this dual-purpose motorcycle is just 130.8 kg. It’s going to be a fun thing to ride. And to make it do things that it is supposed to do, there is a 21-inch wheel at the front wearing a tire of 80/100, and a 19-inch wheel at the rear with 120/80 tire size.
