IMZ-Ural or Ural Motorcycle is a Russian company that manufactures heavy sidecar motorcycles. However, its new concept is a bit offset from the earlier more conventional products. IMZ-Ural has showcased its first electric motorcycle concept, and guess what, it too comes with a sidecar.
This new electric motorcycle concept is based on IMZ-Ural cT motorcycle which is a beautiful product and has a 749cc boxer-twin engine. For its new concept, IMZ-Ural has used an electric motor that has been designed by Zero Motorcycles. This motor produces 45kW (around 60bhp) and about 110Nm of torque. There are a couple of batteries which gives a cumulative output of 19.5kWh. IMZ-Ural says that the estimated range of its electric motorcycle concept is 165km and it can do a top speed of 140kmph.
We can speculate that IMZ-Ural must have been creating this concept for quite some time now. Even though it looks ready, it isn’t. The Russian company has not revealed any details regarding an estimated launch period or price.
It is understandable that perhaps IMZ-Ural’s concept bike is still in its testing phase. And we can’t really guess when or if it would ever enter the production line. IMZ-Ural says that the decision to put the fully electric motorcycle in production will depend on a number of factors such as market research, feedback from consumers and industry experts and possibly demand as well.
