Maverick Vinales is going to stay with Movistar Yamaha until at least 2020. The news was released during the Movistar Yamaha launch in Madrid.

Lorenzo left Yamaha and joined Ducati after the end of 2016 MotoGP world championship. Vinales was signed up by Yamaha to fill Lorenzo’s seat. The former Moto3 world champion was quick enough to prove his worth and talent by winning three races at the beginning of the 2017 season. He put up a good fight throughout the season but unfortunately due to some fundamental problems with Yamaha’s 2017 M1, he couldn’t keep up his pace.

Speaking on his extension Vinales said, “The reasons are I feel really good inside the team. It’s something I like, something I want. We arrived at a really good compromise. They make my dreams come true and let’s see if we can do something more this year.”

The private test sessions at Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia have already commenced. After this, the official test will begin and we hope that Vinales and his teammate Rossi, would find the sweet relationship with their M1s.
