The first race of the 2019 MotoGP world championship is over and it couldn’t have ended in a better way! Andrea Dovizioso and Marc Marquez displayed a brilliant piece of racing and reminded us why MotoGP is one of the best motorsports in the world!
Starting from the first row at the grid, Dovi didn’t waste any time and took the lead. He remained at the 1st position till the end of the race with many riders changing positions behind him. Lap after lap, Dovi kept his pace and place intact and continued his winning spirit.
It turns out @ValeYellow46 IS a Sunday rider! 👏
The Doctor made a spectacular comeback from 14th the grid to finish the day 5th, just 6 seconds adrift!#QatarGP | 📰 https://t.co/vq4LJj1mJv pic.twitter.com/XzB64yHgF9

Alex Rins was in great form as well. He did give a good fight for the 1st place but couldn’t keep up and fell behind. The Doctor started the race from 14th on the grid. He used his years of experience and talent to overtake riders and finish at a respectable 5th place. His teammate Vinales who had a great time during the qualifyings and secured the pole position, couldn’t keep up in the actual race and dropped down only to finish at 7th.
Coming back to the show stoppers, Dovizioso and Marquez during the last laps of the race became aggressive but raced within the limits. After playing cat and mouse, the last lap, and the last corner was reminiscent to that of the last year’s race.

Marquez had to try to get past Dovi at this moment if he wanted to win. Dovi hardly left any room for him to pass through but he knew Marquez will attack and was ready. Marquez took the inside line and went ahead and a bit wide and so does Dovi. However, Dovi was quick to regain his pace and his Desmosedici lunged forward with super urgency. Marquez was right at Dovi’s tail. And it was Dovi to cross the line first and beat Marquez Marc with just 23 thousandths of a second. What a race it was!
The 3rd place was taken by Crutchlow. He didn’t race since last October’s serious ankle injuries. And when he did, he reached the podium. A commendable job by Crutchlow.
The opening round of the 2019 MotoGP world championship was thrilling. The next race is scheduled to take place at the end of this month – 31st March 2019 – in Argentina.
