KTM is soon going to update its product portfolio by launching its new 1290 Super Adventure. The new bike is currently being tested by the Austrian manufacturer. Few fresh spy shots of the test mule are now available.
As you can see in the pictures, the test mule has been covered in camouflage. Yet it is still noticeable that the body panels of the new 1290 Super Adventure will be different from that of the current model. They appear to be larger and cover more of the Trellis frame and engine. It is also quite likely that KTM would implement the same body panel design that we’ve seen in the 790 Adventure and its factory rally bikes.
The upcoming KTM 1290 Super Adventure would also feature an adjustable windscreen. We are expecting it to be electrically adjustable. The test mule had a small pannier-like box on its left side perhaps to keep the test equipment. This shouldn’t be a part of the production-model or accessory package.
The front of the test mule has got only a small single light working as a headlight. But it is also clearly seen that above that the usual iconic KTM headlight is covered in black. Chances are that the new 1290 Super Adventure will get the same signature headlight.
The current model of the 1290 Super Adventure is powered by an enormous 1,300cc V-twin which has got 160 horses and 140Nm of torque. KTM might be looking to increase these figures slightly in the new model. Also, the new engine would be compliant to stricter emission norms.
Let us see when KTM releases any official information regarding the new 1290 Super Adventure. It is being speculated that the new bike would be launched in 2020. Fingers crossed!
