So the rumours of KTM working on a new Duke 890 turn out to be true. It is indeed working on it and pretty seriously. A test mule of the same has been spotted testing at a race track.
Astride the bike was an ex-MotoGP racer and KTM development rider Jeremy McWilliams, who’s been riding it rigorously to make sure to extract the best results of the entire testing process. There seems to be some testing equipment mounted at the back for the same.
The Duke 890 is expected to have Brembo brakes with radial brake pump for precise and aggressive braking performance. Sources say that it will also feature adjustable front and perhaps, rear suspension. The test bike has decals that say Duke 790 on the tank scoops which could mean that the production-ready model wouldn’t be that different in terms of looks and design.
As for the engine, the increased displacement would give a slight increase in the power and torque numbers and should also be able to make the engine Euro 5 compliant.
After looking at these spy shots, we think that KTM might just present the Duke 890 at this year’s EICMA. What’s your guess on that?
