KTM Duke 790

The world knows that the KTM Duke 790 is a hooligan of a machine! Powered by a 799cc, parallel-twin engine, it has 105 horsepower and 80 Nm of torque and it weighs just 189kg. Also known as the Scalpel, the Duke 790 might soon get an elder sibling. Speculations are being made the KTM might be working on a Duke 890.

This move could be a result of the stringent Euro 5 emission norms. To comply with them, KTM might increase the displacement of the same 799cc engine to 900cc. We are also expecting to see a power bump by 10-15bhp.

Apart from the increase in power, the Duke 890 would also get some other additional features like Brembo brakes, adjustable brake and clutch levers, new colour options, etc. The current Duke 790 already packs many advanced electronics that we don’t think KTM would tinker with them.

KTM might put the Duke 890 up on display at this year’s EICMA but we aren’t too confident about it. It’s still too early to comment on that.

Considering the great response from the people to the Duke 790, its elder sibling would get a similar treatment. And we wouldn’t be surprised to see an adventure variant as well. What do you think?
