Just when we thought things couldn’t get any better for KTM’s 790 range of motorcycles, the Austrian brand proved us wrong by introducing the 790 Adventure R Rally. Yes, it’s a long name but the suffix ‘Rally’ is what makes things quite interesting.
KTM says that the 790 Adventure R Rally is the most travel capable rally bike. Why? Because it is everything that the 790 Adventure R is and then a bit more. The biggest difference between these two bikes is the suspension setup.
The Rally comes with the WP Xplor Pro 7548 fork at the front. This system uses cone valve technology; a unique valving system that permits almost limitless damping performance and combines comfort with bottoming resistance. It allows unlimited opening, so harshness of the suspension is reduced.
At the rear, there is the WP Xplor Pro 6746 shock absorber which has been developed based on KTM’s unrivalled experience from top-level rally competition. Due to modern, low-friction components, the shock absorber shows a significant increase in its damping performance and reduces the physical strain for riders. The shock absorber employs a progressive damping system (PDS) and has completely – and easily – adjustable damping behaviour. Both the suspensions come with an additional 30mm of travel, making the total suspension travel to 270mm.
Hopping on this Rally wouldn’t be an any day’s task because the seat height on this thing is 910mm. Yeah, that’s right. This is one of the tallest bikes available right now.
There are a few other features of the KTM 790 Adventure R Rally. These include unique colour and graphic design, clear screen and winglets, narrower rims fitted with tubes for hard offroad conditions, Rally footrests for comfort and grip when standing for long days, lightweight Akrapovič exhaust, carbon fibre tank protectors, and quick shifter.
As far as the pricing is concerned, KTM will announce that in the coming months. And, hey! We forgot to mention that the 790 Adventure R Rally is a limited edition model and KTM will make only 500 of it for the entire world.
