We did hear a few rumours about Ducati working on a new Streetfighter but we didn’t know when would it really take shape or be launched. However, these latest spy shots tell us that the new Streetfighter is now up and running.
While the spy shots are quite grainy, they still give out a few details about the new bike. The test mule carried a headlight setup which appears to be new and wider than that of the current model. There are new tank scoops that would be sharper in design and provide a fresh look.
The Streetfighter had a side-mounted exhaust but Ducati might change it to an underslung unit, just like the one which we’ve seen in the Ducati Panigale V4, on the new model. The overall silhouette of the new bike remains the same.
As far as the engine is concerned, it’s being said that Ducati will use the V4’s powertrain in the new 2020 Streetfighter. Of course, it will be tuned to suit the naked bike’s character. It’s being expected to produce somewhere around 190 horses with a strong mid-range.
After the success of the V4, Ducati must be interested in swapping the L-twins from its major products with the V4s. The new Panigale 959 was expected to come with a V4 but for some reason, Ducati decided to stick with the 90-degree V-twin. However, that wouldn’t be the case with the new Streetfighter.
Ducati is going race a prototype version of the new Streetfighter at the 2019 Pikes Peak Internation Hill Climb and most probably, would announce some details about the launch of the bike.
