Latest reports suggest that a ‘few’ 2014 Indian Motorcycles could suffer from an intermittent or total loss of front lighting due to a vehicle control module problem. This asks for a recall but Indian hasn’t announced it yet as it is still trying to figure out the solution.
The models involved in this incident are the Chief Classic or Chieftain manufactured between 20th August 2012 and 30th June 2014. A combined total of 6,487 might be affected.
The recall document submitted to the authorities states, “The Vehicle Control Module (VCM) may not operate properly on specific 2014 model year Indian Chief and Chieftain motorcycles. An oxidation layer on an electrical contact at the VCM connection could potentially result in a loss of electrical contact leading to an intermittent or total loss of forward lighting.”
At present, the company is reaching out to the owners of the affected models and notifying them about the issue. The company will pass out another notice later regarding the solution.
This recall is valid only in the USA but we still hope that your Indian rides without a glitch.
