Electric Motorcycles are set to take the centre stage in the upcoming moto competition- the FIM Enel MotoE Grand Prix World Championship.

MotoGP stewards FIM and Dorna in February had announced the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup. Reports suggest that the new electric class will feature 18 identical Energica bikes that would be raced by 11 teams. Apart from the seven privateer teams that already compete in the MotoGP rest of the teams include Gresini, Angel Nieto, Avintia, Pramac, Marc VDS, LCR and Tech 3.
Further details regarding the MotoE were revealed during the San Marino Grand Prix including the five-round calender that coincides with the 2019 MotoGP schedule.

Here’s the schedule of the 2019 MotoE competition:
  • May 5, Jerez, Spain
  • May 19, Le Mans, France
  • July 7, Sachsenring, Germany
  • August 11, Spielberg, Austria
  • September 15, Misano, San Marino
Additional information about the event released by FIM and Dorna stated that the electric bike will race between seven to 10 laps. Apart from that, the announcement also shed light on the bike specifications that will be used for the race. The Energica Ego Corsa race bike is tweaked over the base model and now weighs 20kg less. The new track bike will be capable of putting out 160hp of power along with 200 Nm of torque topping at a max speed of 270kph.
Racing teams that were previously confirmed with two MotoE entries included Tech 3 Racing, LCR Team, Pramac Racing, Esponsorama Racing, Gresini Racing, Angel Nieto Team, while Teams with a single MotoE entry include Marc VDS Racing Team, Ajo Motorsport, Pons Racing, Dynavolt Intact GP, SIC58 Squadra Corse.
Energica Motor Company is the first Italian manufacturer which got its hands into the high-performance electric motorcycle business. The bike maker currently sells its models in numerous countries. Being the only manufacturer that was chosen for the MotoE, its bike Ego Corsa is currently under development and will undergo a series of tests which will be carried out through every 2018 FIM MotoGP World Championship event.
